What is Prosthodontics?

Prosthodontics. This may be a word you've never heard before. Today, we're going to go into detail about exactly what prothondontics is and the dental care associated with prosthodontics. At Sandhills Dental Rehabilitation Center, doctors Oettinger and Sulik provide prosthodontic care and dental rehabilitation to get you on a road to a happy, healthy smile.

Prosthodontics is a dental specialty that includes dental implants, esthetic, cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ or TMD), occlusion (or bite), and comprehensive multi-specialty planning. As opposed to focusing treatment on one tooth or area, prosthodontic treatment is often comprehensive in the way that our doctors consider the condition of the entire mouth. When it comes to treatment, our work can include anything from replacement of missing teeth to repay of decayed, damaged or broken teeth.

At Sandhills Dental Rehabilitation Center, we feel strongly about limiting our practice to prosthondontics so that Dr. Oettinger and Dr. Sulik can work closely with their patients to achieve specific treatment. Our doctors work closely with general dentists across eastern North Carolina to achieve the dental goals of their patients.

Prosthodontic and rehabilitation procedures may include complete or partial dentures, veneers, fillings, crowns and/or bridges, dental implants (fixed and removable), extractions, bone grafting and other prosthetic-related surgeries.

If you're in need to prosthodontic care, please consult your dentist and have them reach out to us. Our doctors are equipped with specialized training, expertise and experience that allow them to provide the best solutions and treatments for your dental problems.
